Privacy Policy

Last updated August 2026

This policy explains what Repetiq collects, what we do with it, and what you can make us stop doing. It is written to be read, not to be survived. If anything in it is unclear, write to repetiq@gmail.com and we will explain it and then fix the wording.

The short version

We collect the account details you give us and the results of the quizzes you play. We use them to run the app, show you your progress, and put you on the leaderboards. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. You can delete your account, and everything attached to it, from inside the app in under a minute.

The rest of this page is the same thing said precisely, because "the short version" is not a legal document and this next part has to be.

Who is responsible for your data

Repetiq is not a company. It is made and run by two people, and repetiq@gmail.com reaches both of us.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation the two of us are joint data controllers for the information described here, which means we are the ones who decide why it is collected and what happens to it, and either of us is answerable for all of it.

We are two people, not a business with an office, so we do not print our home address on a page about a trivia game. That does not make us anonymous to you. Our names and our postal address are verified with Apple and with Google, they are shown on the Repetiq listing on the App Store and on Google Play, and if you would rather not go looking, ask at repetiq@gmail.com and we will send them to you. That is a right you have, not a favour, and you do not need to say why you want them.

You can reach us at repetiq@gmail.com about anything on this page. It goes to both of us.

What we collect

Account information. Your email address and username, and a display name and profile photo if you choose to add them. If you sign in with Apple and use Apple's private relay, we receive a relay address rather than your real one, and that is fine by us.

What you do in the app. The questions you are served, the answers you pick, whether they were right, how your accuracy moves, your streak, your XP, your level, and your rank in each subject. This is what your statistics are made of, so it is also the thing you would most notice us not having.

Settings and preferences. Your language, theme, notification choices, daily goal, and privacy settings.

Purchases and balances. Whether you have an active Repetiq Plus entitlement, and your gem balance. Payments themselves are handled by Apple or by Google, depending on where you got the app. We never see your card details, and we never receive them.

Technical information. Your device model, operating system version, app version, and approximate time zone, used for diagnostics and for working out which day "today" is where you are. Our hosting provider also records the usual server logs, including IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention.

What we do not collect. We do not collect your contacts, your location, your photo library beyond a picture you deliberately upload, your browsing outside the app, or any advertising identifier. There is no advertising SDK in Repetiq.

Why we collect it, and what allows us to

GDPR requires us to have a specific legal basis for every purpose, not a general one for the whole app. Ours are:

  • Running your account and delivering the app, including saving progress, syncing between your devices, and providing anything you have paid for. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you, Article 6(1)(b).
  • Showing you your own statistics, streaks and ranks. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
  • Displaying you on leaderboards and public profiles. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you, since the leaderboards are a core part of what the app is. You can restrict what other people see in the app's privacy settings at any time.
  • Keeping the service secure, preventing cheating, and stopping abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f). Our interest is in a leaderboard that means something and a service that stays up. We have weighed that against your interests and we only use the minimum needed.
  • Fixing bugs and improving the app using aggregated usage patterns. Legal basis: our legitimate interests.
  • Sending you notifications. Legal basis: your consent, Article 6(1)(a), given when you turn them on and withdrawn when you turn them off.
  • Keeping records we are legally required to keep, such as those relating to purchases and tax. Legal basis: our legal obligations, Article 6(1)(c).

We do not use your data for advertising, we do not profile you for marketing, and no decision that affects you is made about you by an automated system alone.

Who else sees it

A short list, and it stays short.

  • Service providers who run Repetiq for us. They store your account, run sign-in, and serve this website and our backend functions. They act on our instructions, are contractually bound to protect what they hold, and are not allowed to use it for anything of their own. Ask and we will tell you who they are.
  • Apple and Google process purchases, and Apple also handles Sign in with Apple if you use it. They tell us whether an entitlement is valid. They do not receive your quiz history from us.
  • Other players, but only the parts of your profile you have chosen to make public. See the next section.
  • Authorities, if we are legally required to disclose something. We will tell you when we are allowed to.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not rent it, share it for anyone else's marketing, or hand it to a data broker. There is no version of Repetiq where that changes without this page changing first and you being told.

What is public

Repetiq has leaderboards, and leaderboards only work if someone is on them. By default your username, avatar, level, rank, and headline statistics can be seen by other players on leaderboards and on your public profile.

Two things are always true about this. Your email address is never shown to another player. And you can change what is visible, in the app, under Settings and then Privacy, whenever you like.

Choose a username you are comfortable being seen. If you would rather not be seen at all, the privacy settings can take you off the public boards, and the app still works.

Where your data lives

Your data is held on managed cloud infrastructure in Stockholm, Sweden, inside the European Union, so it does not leave the EU to be stored. It is encrypted in transit using TLS and encrypted at rest by the provider.

Where a service provider processes data outside the European Economic Area, that transfer is covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, or by an adequacy decision where one applies. You can ask us for a copy of the safeguards that apply to any specific transfer.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and everything attached to it: for as long as your account exists. When you delete it, the deletion runs immediately and finishes within 30 days, including in our backups as they roll over.
  • Server and security logs: up to 90 days.
  • Purchase and tax records: for as long as Greek law requires us to keep them, currently five years, and no longer. These are kept even after account deletion because we are not permitted to destroy them.
  • Support emails: up to 24 months, so we can see the history if you write again.

Anonymous, aggregated statistics that cannot be traced back to you may be kept indefinitely, because at that point they are no longer about you.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

  • Know what we hold about you and get a copy of it.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete your account and your personal data. This one you can do yourself, immediately, in the app.
  • Restrict how we use your data while a dispute about it is being sorted out.
  • Take your data with you, in a structured, machine readable format.
  • Object to any processing we are doing on the basis of legitimate interests, including a general objection to that processing.
  • Withdraw consent to anything you consented to, at any time, without it affecting what was lawful before you withdrew it.

Write to repetiq@gmail.com to use any of these. We will respond within one month. We do not charge for this, and we will not ask you why.

If we get it wrong. You have the right to complain to a data protection authority: the one in the EU country where you live, or the one that supervises us, and we will tell you which that is if you ask. We would much rather you told us first, but it is your right and you do not need our permission.

Deleting your account

In the app: Settings, then Account, then Delete Account. Type your username to confirm. Your profile, statistics, progress, leaderboard entries, and preferences are removed.

If you cannot get into the app, go to repetiq.app/delete-account or email repetiq@gmail.com from the address on the account, and we will do it for you.

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription, because we are not the ones billing you. Cancel that with Apple or Google first, wherever you bought it, or you will keep paying for an account that no longer exists.

Children

Repetiq is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If we find out that an account belongs to a child under 13, we delete it. If you believe a child has given us their information, email repetiq@gmail.com and we will remove it without asking you to prove anything.

How we protect it

Everything moves over TLS. Access to production data is restricted to the two of us and to nobody else. Database access is governed by row level security, which means the rules about who can read what are enforced by the database itself rather than by the app remembering to ask nicely.

No system is perfect, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. If a breach happens that puts your rights at risk, we will notify the competent data protection authority within 72 hours and tell you directly.

Cookies and tracking

This website sets no cookies. It runs no analytics, has no tracking pixels, and loads no third party scripts. Our fonts are served from this domain rather than from a font provider, so nothing about your visit reaches anyone else.

The one thing the site keeps on your device is which theme you picked, light or dark, stored in your browser so the page does not open in the wrong colours next time. It is a preference you set, it never leaves your browser, and clearing your site data removes it. That is why there is no cookie banner here: there is nothing to ask you about yet.

The app does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and it never asks to, because it has nothing to do with the answer.

If we ever add analytics, this page will change first and you will be asked before anything is set on your device.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change actually matters, we will tell you in the app rather than hoping you re-read this page. Continuing to use Repetiq after a change means you accept the updated policy, but you always have the option of deleting your account instead, and that option is a real one.

Contact

repetiq@gmail.com

Everything that arrives there is read by one of the two of us. It is the only channel and it is enough: no form to fill in first, no ticket number, and nobody to get past. If you need our registered trader details, for a complaint or for anything else, ask and we will send them.
